In the wake of the devastating tornadoes that slammed Alabama on April 27, BB&T is one of the many banks using its resources to aid the impacted communities.

The Winston-Salem-based bank is sending humanitarian relief to the areas hardest hit by the recent tornadoes. The humanitarian relief efforts include shipments of water, ice, tarps and cleaning supplies to local American Red Cross locations in the affected areas of Tuscaloosa, Huntsville, Guntersville, Pleasant Grove and Pratt City. BB&T is also making a contribution to the American Red Cross to establish the BB&T-Alabama Tornado Relief Fund.

In addition to these immediate efforts, BB&T will spearhead a series of Community Rebuild Days in the hardest hit areas of Alabama in conjunction with the American Red Cross.

BB&T will sponsor blood drives with the American Red Cross in Anniston, Birmingham, Huntsville and Tuscaloosa.
