There are many different types of credit cards on the market these days and in the current financial climate where finances are tight there are many people that are keen to get their hands on these cards. According to a recent report around 8.65 million people are planning to take out a credit card over the next year. There are a number of different card types to choose from including cash back cards, rewards cards, interest free cards, balance transfer cards, and more.
It has also been revealed that of the millions of people that will be looking for a credit card over the next year around 28 percent will be looking for rewards based cards where they can get a little something back for using the card on a regular basis. There are many different types of rewards available such as travel based rewards, air miles, discounts, retail rewards, and more.
The research was carried out by Sainsbury’s Credit Cards, with the results showing that loyalty based credit cards were the cards that over a quarter of people were going to look for when getting a new credit card. The research also showed that around one in ten would be looking for a new credit card because their existing card or provider did not offer anything by way of rewards. Around 8 percent of those polled that they whilst their cards had received rewards they rewards had either been reduced or stopped altogether.
Stuart McKeggie, head of Sainsbury’s Credit Cards, said: “Good use of loyalty schemes and card features can help people get a lot more value from their card. People are looking to get more from their card nowadays, whether that is through rewards on their shopping or through extra benefits.”
