It has been reported that there has been a sharp increase in the number of searches being carried out for 0 percent interest credit cards recently, which seems to indicate that shoppers have been preparing themselves early on for the up and coming expense of Christmas. Many people turn to credit cards and other forms of finance for their Christmas shopping, and many seem to getting themselves sorted out as early as possible.
The results of the survey showed that in the month of October there had been a year on year increase of 35 percent when it came to searches for 0 percent balance transfer credit cards. Many opt for interest free purchase credit cards to make purchases or interest free balance transfer cards onto which they transfer their high interest credit card balances.
The level of searches for interest free cards is said to have reached similar levels to the post Christmas period of last year already, which is traditionally the time when people start looking for interest free balance transfer cards, so that they can transfer the high interest balances from the cards they used over the Christmas period onto an interest free card.
Credit reference agency Experian said: “In order to qualify for the deals this Christmas, the best thing you can do is regularly monitor your credit report. Make full use of the CreditExpert service by clicking through to LowerMyBills where you can quickly check to see if you’d be accepted for a deal without leaving a footprint on your credit report.”
Another official added: “People seem to be wising up to the fact that they can’t just bury their heads in the sand and hope for the best when it comes to paying for Christmas. Internet users are getting better prepared this year by researching 0% balance credit cards before Christmas gets underway.”
